Afghan Hounds, like most sighthounds, are very good at escaping from standard buckle collars. This coupled with the the added issue of coat damage means they need a little more attention in the collar world.

Clipped Afghans have no difficulty wearing any Martingale collar with no damage to their coat. Afghans in show coats require a wrap-around lining. To protect their coats, which can be almost as fragile as dandelion fluff. We use a Cuddle Satin lining which wraps around the entire inside of the collar so that no webbing is exposed to break off the hair.

Afghan hounds typically wear a size Medium (or Small for some smaller female hounds). Because they do have long necks, they can wear a 1", 1.5", or 2" wide martingale collar.
