Buckle Martingale Collars
Typical Side Release Dog collars are not recommended for Greyhounds or Sighthounds because they can easily slip their collar and then they are running loose. A Martingale Dog Collar prevents this from happening by gently tightening so that it is unable to slip over the ears.
A Buckle Martingale Dog collar offers the easy on/off option of a standard dog collar with the increased functionality of the martingale loop. This option is great for very large dogs with large heads because you can take the collar on and off without readjusting it each time to fit over the head.
Because the side release buckle adds some bulk to the dog collar, this style is not recommended for smaller dogs such as Italian Greyhounds. A 1 inch wide buckle martingale collar can be made for whippets and other medium sized dogs, and if you really need a buckle martingale collar for an Italian Greyhound, I recommend either a 5/8 inch or 1 inch wide collar.
