| Heady Graffiti – When Betsey Johnson kicked off her Fall 2004 line, I have no doubt that as she strolled down her runway, lights hot on her face, models gleefully clinging to her hands, flashbulbs going crazy, she knew she had knocked it out of the park with her skull inspired collection. But did that up and comer have any idea that she was in fact, kicking off a trend that would have such heavy hitting designers as Michael Kors (we know, we think he’s adorable, too), Dolce and Gabanna and Muicchia Prada scrambling to catch up? Or that it would be as strong in 2009 as it was in 2004? It was the fashion home run that was felt around the globe and continues to score on every level of luxury goods, including our take on it for Spring. We love this playful spin, but believe us, or ask Betsey, this iconic design is NOT childs play, it’s cutting edge fashion, and hey, it’s all in a days play, er..work, here at 2HD. Enjoy the bubblegum pink or stick with the bold black and red, but remember, real men CAN wear pink, as long as it is superhottrendy pink..... ;) |
